My name is Gabriella Chuang and I just started my senior year at San Marino High School. I have been golfing competitively for only five years and only recently has our family's hobby become my personal passion. In seventh grade, I made it my goal to join the high school golf team, and was both surprised and delighted to see how much my game improved with a little hard work and dedication. Since then, competing both individually and as part of a team has made my love for the sport grow every day.
Now I compete in numerous SCPGA Junior tournaments throughout the year (won my first one in June 2018 with a score of 73), in addition to playing for my school team. As a freshman, I played for both the JV and Varsity teams, guiding our JV team to win the league title. Sophomore year, as a full-time varsity player, we were league champions and I received First Team All-League honors, helping our team advance to the third round of state championship qualifying. This last season, I'm enjoyed fulfilling my duties as a co-captain where I utilized the leadership skills I've gained from my four years of student government to benefit my fellow teammates and again win another league championship and earn First Team All-League honors once more. I have once again been named captain, and I am excited to use last season's experiences to guide me through my last one in high school.
For me, it is important to maintain balance between my schoolwork and golf. I am looking for a college or university with a strong academic reputation where I can pursue a degree in the field of business, in addition to being a contributing member to a successful golf program. At this point in my journey towards college, I am open to considering a wide variety of schools.
I am excited for the opportunity for golf to continue to be a part of my life as I move on to college.
