When I am at a golf course, I am in my element. I feel comfortable, almost as if it’s my home away from home. I first went to a golf course at the age of nine, where my dad took me for my first lessons. This was the day I fell in love with the sport. As a young child, I was extremely quiet. Despite that, I have learned that I am comfortable with meeting new people and that I am a team player. With this, my academic goals for high school are to improve upon my time-management skills and to be more advocative for myself. My goals for college are to continue in these, but to also continue my service hours, as I enjoy serving my community. I have overcome my fear of public speaking. Since a very young age, I was petrified of having to present school projects, volunteering in class, or simply speaking to a teacher alone. After starting golf, I have improved my public speaking skills and I am comfortable with presenting in front of groups of people. I am a team-leader; I enjoy teaching what I know to younger kids and my teammates. I love being on the course with my team and my friends I have made through tournaments. I am an Emerging Leader for SCGA to act as a role model for young kids who are trying the sport for the first time or even kids who are looking to improve their game as they enter middle school or high school. With that, I am beyond thrilled to continue to play golf in college and to be part of a team!
