Olivia McCandless '22 Recruiting Profile

Ever since I hit my first bucket of balls with my mom and dad, I knew that I loved golf, and it was going to be the sport I wanted to play for the rest of my life. Golf, since my 7th grade year, has been a huge part of my life and one of the things that has kept me going. No matter what, I knew I could rely on the little white ball that sat at my feet. To me, golf is not only a sport, but something that has pulled me out of some of the darkest places throughout my teenage years so far. The passion and fire I feel for golf is unmatchable.  To play at the next level is something I will not give up pursuing until I succeed. It is undoubtedly my dream. 

I would be an asset to any college academically and athletically due to the fact that I am driven, hardworking, and dedicated. Currently, through my efforts in the classroom, I have a cumulative GPA of 4.1.  I am not afraid to put in the work and persevere through difficult tasks no matter what they may be. I willingly put my pride aside to learn and improve in the classroom and on the course. Currently, my best day out for an 18 hole tournament or round is an 82.  By February, my goal is to fine tune my game to where I am shooting in the mid to high 70's. Improving and being coachable matters more to me than feeling good about myself, therefore I am open to constructive criticism to obtain my goals.  In a team setting, I love to cheer on my teammates and motivate them to be the best I know they can be, because even though it is an individual sport, we all still need to work together and have a strong bond. 

My goal is to play golf at the next level.  I am very open to various locations and willing to work to get to the highest level I possibly can to achieve my goals both athletically and academically.  My top priority is to be an asset to the team to help my teammates win while earning a high quality education.  Academically I want to major in nursing.
