Hi, my name is Aspen Furubotten. I live in a small town named Cedaredge on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Since my community is so small, there is no High School Girls Golf team, therefore, I compete with the boys in the fall. What I have learned since my first nerve-racking tee off my freshman year, is with enough hard work and determination, I can compete at any level, no dream is unreachable, and the golf community is full of amazing and supportive people. Even though competing with high school boys has always had an aspect of intimidation it has been one of the most profound experiences of my life. I grew up in a golf course residence and have been around the game since I was little, however, I did not find the competitive spirit of golf until my eighth-grade year. Living in a small town has also afforded me the opportunity to play a number of sports. Being a three-sport athlete, I have also played basketball and track. I thoroughly enjoy playing these sports. Along with sports, I am a member of our FFA Chapter, Student Council, and National Honor Society. Every one of these extracurricular activities has taught me that a team atmosphere is essential to success. I work very hard to succeed in my extracurricular activities, but more importantly, my academics. I have maintained a 3.5 or higher GPA all three years of high school and taken a couple AP classes to push myself further academically. I am also very involved at our local Golf Club. Along with working at the course, I have also thoroughly enjoyed volunteering my time towards assisting instruction in youth clinics as well as the First Tee Program. I firmly believe that my competitive nature, and work ethic are my greatest attributes.
My goals in collegiate golf are to be a part of a dynamic team, to grow through experience and further enhance my golf game.
