Personal Statement

My name is Carinna Anastasio, and I am excited to introduce myself as a student from the class of 2024.  I started my competitive golf journey when I was 8 years old, joining the Tashua PGA Junior League. Ever since then, I've spent countless hours perfecting my skills and gaining experience in tournaments. The ups and downs I've faced on the golf course have fueled my determination to pursue a collegiate golf career.

Right now, I proudly play for the Shelton High School Varsity Boys Golf Team in Shelton, Connecticut. As the only girl on a team dominated by guys, I've learned the importance of being resilient, persistent, and hardworking. It's inspired me to always aim for excellence and has shown me how vital dedication and teamwork are. Through my golf journey, I've not only developed a deep love for the sport but also learned discipline and how to set goals. I've become good at managing my time, juggling a rigorous academic schedule, sports, and personal commitments, making sure I do well both on and off the golf course.

Besides my accomplishments on the course, I've been lucky to have amazing coaches who've guided me along the way. They've played a huge role in refining my technique and improving my skills. Their guidance has fueled my desire to always get better. I'm eager to have the opportunity to continue growing with experienced coaches at the collegiate level, where I can push myself to new heights and contribute to the success of my team.
