Hello! My name is Sophia Cunningham, I'm a rising senior and I've tried almost every sport imaginable before I found golf, and I'm so thankful that I have. Golf has become one of my greatest passions besides my family, God and education. I began to take the sport seriously and play about five years ago. In order to get where I am today, I've had to work incredible hard every single day. Each year I find so much enjoyment in setting goals for myself and being able to exceed them.
I play for Tolland boys varsity golf and have been since my freshman year. I've made all state, all academic conference and all conference three years in a row. Playing on the boys team has been one of my greatest experiences due to the yardages and camaraderie. I love playing for a team, especially Tolland, even though it's taken me away from the individual girls state tournament. I have a 76 tournament scoring average and a 75 scoring average, I've dropped close to 10 strokes from my last season. My goal for the 2024 fall season is to average 75 or under in tournaments and hit more fairways by improving the consistency with my driver. My overarching goals are to play competitive collegiate golf for a team with amazing chemistry while pursuing my education. I aspire to major in either political science, pre-law or business administration.
I've been told I'm a team player and consider it one of my greatest strengths. Besides that I'm also a hard worker and coachable- I'm open to criticism and welcome any advice I can get. I firmly believe in the power of knowledge and multiple perspectives. For the 2023-2024 off-season I've been continuing my strength training and speed training to become the best player I can be. In school I have 3.7 GPA.
I'm looking for a school out of state, any size enrollment with great team chemistry and a school where I can grow my education. I'm never satisfied and will continue to work as hard as I can during this season to lower my scoring average and improve my course knowledge.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope I'm a good candidate for your school.
