Hello! My name is Claire Sattler and I am a student and golfer of the class of 2019. In college, I intend to study biomedical engineering because I have a passion for innovating, creating, and using the STEM fields to positively impact the lives of others. Although I've leisurely golfed from the age of three, it wasn't until high school that I truly began rigorously competing on my high school golf team and in local tournaments. Despite my late start, in the past few years, I've dedicated myself not only to my intellectual pursuits, but also to improving myself vastly as a golfer and utilizing my scientific skills to further my understanding of the mechanics of my golf swing. While I'm working with these mechanics to increase my power and distance off of the tee, I make up for it with my reliable approach shots, to hit the green in regulation and score well due to my precise short game. I am a well-rounded, involved student, who can balance a challenging academic course load with a dedication to golf and a variety of other extracurriculars, without sacrificing my performance in any of them. I possess strong leadership abilities, but I also understand the importance of being a cooperative team player, even in individualistic sports like golf. I strive not only to better myself as a member of a golf team, but also to encourage and motivate my teammates to ensure that the whole team thrives as a coherent unit. I believe that my overall ambition in academics and athletics, coupled with my respectful and helpful nature make me an ideal candidate for a collegiate golf team.
