Dear Coaches,
My name is Kylie Turner and I am interested in playing golf at the college level. I am currently a senior at Providence High School in Jacksonville, FL and 2nd year Captain of the Varsity Golf Team. I've received the honor of the First Coast All Preps Award my sophomore and junior years. I have been a member of the North Florida Junior Golf Association for 7 years, a member of the Florida Junior Tour for 3 years and play regularly with he Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. I consider myself dedicated on and off the course and would like the opportunity to play on a women's collegiate team.
I wanted to tell you more about myself. I was accepted to the National Honor Society in 11th grade and again in 12th grade and I have maintained AB Honor Roll my entire career at my school (K-11) . I am also involved in several clubs, including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (Club Vice-President), Daniel's Club, and several others. I also participated in my Junior Class Powderpuff Football Game during Homecoming Week.
Another way I like to spend my time is by volunteering for community service. I very much enjoy helping children and focus much of my volunteer work around making things better for less fortunate children in my community. One of my most proud accomplishments is when I do my annual "Spring Cleaning The Closet for Kids". This is when I coordinate with my friends and teammates a mass donation of slightly used clothing that gets donated to The Daniel School for Kids. This takes weeks to accomplish but it is so rewarding! I also like to volunteer my time with local junior summer golf camps. I believe it is important to support junior golf and I love helping beginners build their game and to have fun while playing.I currently have a 3.83. weighted GPA and I will be taking the formal SAT test in the Fall of 2020.
I am a Jacksonville, Florida native and I have a wonderful support group here. In my spare time, I like spending time with my friends, strength training and exercising , I enjoy going to the beach, and visiting new places with my family.
My college aspirations are deeply rooted in the environment I've been raised in. Both of my parents have college degrees and they have shown me how valuable education is. I have been involved in sports my whole life and I appreciate the dedication it takes to become a successful athlete. I have always been able to keep my priorities straight and maintain focus no matter what life has thrown my way. There have been times where things were especially tough for my family. A few years ago, my mom had some difficulties during a surgery. Things went wrong and she almost died. She ended up in the hospital for a very long time, with several other surgeries following to try to make things right again. She made it through but had a long recovery at home. As a result, she has had to have other surgeries over the years which has made it hard on my family, especially financially. At a very young age, I had to learn to be very self sufficient since my mom couldn't always do things. She would ask me to "just keep my grades up" and to "keep practicing golf". I made sure I did both. I kept my position on the Honor Roll and I kept getting better at golf. And, even though I haven't been able to do as much travel golf as I'd like I have done very well in my local golf organizations and in Varsity Golf. I think this is why I am interested in focusing my future studies in the field of Science. I would like to eventually go into some kind of medical field where I can help people. Life has made me very disciplined and I know that I am cut out for the roll of student athlete at the college level.I would love to hear if I might be a good fit for your program. Please reach out to me if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you very much for your time.
