I am Talena McRoberts I started playing golf with my grandpa which was really a meaningful thing for me, later I went to a middle school that had a golf team (Saint Anthony's Catholic School). My love for playing golf started on that golf team in the 7th grade. Though, I never thought I would be here wishing to pursue it in a college competitive level. I played multiple different sports between middle school and now but I always found that the competition in golf was much greater than all those other sports. I felt this because I knew the competition was myself. I loved trying to get lower scores and better swings to perfect how I once was. This mindset has brought me a long way into being able to take my competitive side and use it to make myself better.
Things I will bring forward to a coach are things like taking all the help in the world to further better myself in the sport not just for me but for the team, communicating to be able to talk about an difficulties I am having, and also bringing spirit and a side of me that is ready to go big or go home. I find myself to be a team leader I will always have something encouraging for my teammates whether I am in the game or not. I am extremely coachable and I am ready for extensive advice and lots of work to be ready for the college competition. I will always strive to be great and do better than I did before.
I will always work hard and give my full effort for my team and this sport. I am open to all camps and all advice. I also show this much effort in school. While I am ready athletically for college I am also ready academically. I have been receiving Honor Roll since middle school and I always work to maintain good grades. I am in many clubs, Honor Societies, and advanced classes. I think being a true athlete isn't just how you perform for a school but also how you do in that school. I am ready for college golf because I know I can maintain a busy schedule and have a great amount of focus for my sport. In 8th grade I played sports, kept good grades, and worked part time at publix which I still do now while in high school. I have collected over 130 service hours while in high school because no matter how busy I am with school, sports, or work I can always find time to give back to my community.
When looking for a college I want to be somewhere that will give me both athletic and academic challenges because I feel the more I'm challenged the harder I push through which leads to greater personal results for myself and for the team. I am open to everything at this moment but in the end I want a college that will be the best match for me where I can get an amazing education, be pushed competitively, and also allow me to have an amazing coach to learn from and a great team to help bring victories. I want more than ever to make my mom proud and be a positive addition to a great college team!
