My name is Adalynne Forchette, I have been playing golf since I was five when I would go out and play with my dad in the morning before school. I didn’t find competitive golf until I was ten when I competed in my first Drive, Chip and Putt Challenge. Since then, the competitive bug bit me and I asked my parents to sign me up for as many tournaments as we could fit in! I started with US Kids, quickly challenged myself with longer distances by joining the Hurricane Tour and now I mostly play SJGT with a few AJGA and PKB events, in addition to playing on my high school varsity team.
My favorite part about competitive golf is that it challenges you both mentally and physically with no two rounds being the same. I have had the privilege to play many tournaments over the past five years and have achieved different milestones. Some of the individual achievements I am most proud of is placing 3rd in Under Armor Winter Nationals, 15th in U.S. Kids Teen Worlds, and receiving the MVP award both my 8th and 9th grade year for my school team. Two highlights of team achievements are our high school team winning the State Championships this year and competing in the SJGT Cup representing the East Team where our team won!
Golf truly pushes you and I feel that it has shaped me into the person I am today. It has taught me how to work hard, be accountable, take criticism and learn from it, and be able to be a good sport and support others around me when I may not be at my best. Some of my best friends today are girls I have met on the tours I have played.
I am not just a golfer though; I am a conscientious student and care very much about my academics. I am on an engineering path at school and currently have a 3.8 GPA. Outside the classroom and off the golf course I enjoy spending time with friends and giving back to my community. One of the ways I do that is by being a Girl Scout where I partake in community service projects, mentor and volunteer. I have earned both my bronze and silver award and am currently working toward my gold.
I would love to be able to play at a collegiate level and be a part of a team. I want to contribute individually but have a team around me that works toward a common goal. It truly would be a dream come true. The perfect college for me would be one that pushes academically and in my golf game in an environment that allows me the opportunity to be my best self.
