I started playing golf when I was in 1st grade. Throughout my middle school years I participated in various sports such as cheerleading and track at school. At the same time I continued to participate in Junior Golf programs in my town. At the beginning of my 8th grade year I talked my Athletic Director into allowing me to represent my private school at the IESA State Series golf tournament even though we did not have a formal golf program at school. I participated at the Sectional and the State level that year. Even though I did not score well compared to my peers I walked off that golf course knowing golf would be my sport of choice. I played golf at the Junior Varsity level for NCHS my Freshman year. I was also pariticipating in football/basketball/competitive cheerleading at NCHS at the same time. By the time I finished my Freshman year I knew I wanted to focus solely on golf so I could some day play at the college level. My Sophomore year I gave up cheerleading to devote more time to my golf game. That year I played in the #4 spot for the Varsity team that consisted of 2 Seniors, 3 Juniors, 2 Sophomores, and 1 Freshman. My Junior year I consistently played in the #2 position and finished the season with an 83 scoring average. I helped lead my team to a Big 12 Conference and IHSA Regional Championship. I led my team in fairways and placed 2nd on the team in GIR and putts.
My goal is to attend a NCAA D2/D3 or NAIA school and play golf at the college level while pursuing my academic studies of Music Education and/or Business. I would make a great candidate for your team as I am extremely coachable. I am not afraid of hard work. The improvement in my stats over the past three years are an indication of my willingness to work hard once I set my mind on a goal. I have done this through my violin/orchestra studies since I was in Kindergarten and now play orchestra violin at an advanced level. I am applying that same work ethic to my golf game. I have worked hard on both the mechanics of my swing and my mental game. As a Senior I have been voted Team Captain by players and coaches. I have consistently played the #1 position for our tournaments.
I'd also be a great candidate for your team because I love the game of golf. I love that it is a game of integrity and that matches my personal values. I attended Cornerstone Christian Academy for grades K-8. This helped to make me strong in faith and character. I am a member of Eastview Christian Church where I serve as a team leader in the children's ministries. Every other month I teach elementary age children their weekly Bible lesson on Sunday mornings. I have attended Christ in Youth (CIY) conferences annually since 5th grade. I have also participated in the same small group ministry with 5 other girls my age throughout high school. During our weekly meetings we are mentored by our group leaders and each other. It has taught me The value of strong relationships and how to support one another through successes and hard times.
I hope you will continue to look at my profile to see how I can fit on your team.
