Personal Statement

I have been playing golf since I was only 5 years old. I spent a lot of time on golf courses with my grandpa from a young age and quickly developed a love for the game.  I am hardworking, dedicated, and determined to always be the best I can possibly be.  I grew up playing in the PGA Junior program, where I met my personal coach.

I just concluded my junior golf season at Pekin Community High School in Pekin, Illinois. I set goals for myself for the season at the end of sophomore year and I am happy to report that I accomplished my goals.  Prior to my junior high school season, I played in a number of tournaments this past summer, where I scored in the range of 77-79, with my PR being 73.  I moved into my junior year high school season and felt confident.  I had a great season where I continued to lower my overall stroke count from last year, lengthened my drives, and really focused on my irons and short game.  I placed in the top 10 in our 18 hole tournaments, made 1st Team All-Conference, and conquered Regionals, Sectionals, and the State Tournament. We made it as a team to Sectionals, but then I was the only individual to make it to the State Tournament from the team.  At the State Tournament, I shot a first round 77 and advanced to Day 2.  I shot an 82 on Day 2, which was not my best score, but there were so many things I did well at the same time.  With the end of my season now here, I have already set goals for my senior year, which starts now. I am looking forward to returning to strength and conditioning and time with my personal coach.

I want nothing more than to continue to play golf at the collegiate level at a school that believes in me and best fits my academic needs. I am planning on majoring in Nursing. I would make a great candidate on a team because I am a natural leader who continually shows perseverance. I love cheering on my teammates and all that they accomplish and am constantly wanting to improve and challenge myself to become better. I take everything that my coach tells me and truly apply it to every shot to continue to improve as I aspire to become better in all aspects of my golf game. Currently, my irons and my short game are definitely my strongest aspects! I prioritize my grades along with golf as they are just as important. I maintain over a 4.0 GPA and am on High Honor Roll. I participate in the Student Council, both volunteering and helping to better my school, Future Christian Athletes (FCA), and Dragon Day leaders to help acclimate new students to our high school. I will continue to push myself in both my academics and my golf game, as I aspire to be the best I can possibly be at both.

  • Happy to have won another tournament this summer as I shot 77, 78! Finally hit my goal of having a tournament with 2 rounds in the 70’s. The first day was at Mt. Hawley Country Club and I shot a front 9 of 38 (+2) and a back 9 of 39 (+4). The second day was at the Country Club of Peoria and I shot a front 9 of 36(-1) with my first tournament eagle (the first video shows my reaction to my eagle) on a par 5 where I holed out from 137 yards on my 3rd shot!! Then, I shot a back 9 of 42 (+7). The back 9 was rocky with all of the conditions we played in of extreme heat but I ended the round strong! Super thankful for this win and for all the strength God gave me to get through this super hot round. Thank you Prep Tour for hosting yet another great tournament & for pairing me with such sweet girls. TYJ.🤍
  • Camp/Event
  • Coyote Creek Junior Open
  • 7/10/23 to 7/11/23
  • Had another pretty good tournament. I finished second at the Coyote Creek Golf Course Tournament. I had a great first day shooting 76- 39 (+3) & 37 (+1). Then, didn’t have a great second day as I had some driver issues that put me into hazards and a few wedge issues which then led me to shoot an 83- 41 (+5) and 42 (+6). Happy to have played good enough to place, but still have lots to work on for my last few tournaments of the summer.
  • Camp/Event
  • Weaver Ridge Junior Open
  • 6/22/23 to 6/23/23
  • Had another great tournament and finished second overall. I shot an 81 the 1st day at Weaver Ridge- with a front 9 of 39 (+3) and a back 9 of 42 (+6). Then the second day at Quail Meadows, I shot a new tournament PR of 73- with a front 9 of 34 (-2) and a back 9 of 39 (+3). So an overall tournament total of (+10). Super happy with the second day and this tournament overall.
  • Camp/Event
  • Lick Creek Open
  • 6/12/23 to 6/13/23
  • Happy to have won the Lick Creek Prep Tour tournament again this year. I had a pretty good day on the first day as I shot 77 with a front 9 of 36 (E) and a back 9 of 41. But I struggled to get things going on the second day as I started off on the back nine and couldn’t hit shots I hoped to hit and couldn’t get many putts to drop- so I shot 47. But I was happy with how I bounced back and over came adversity and had a better front 9 of 40- ending with an overall total score of 87 on day 2. I still left many putts out there- so need to work on that more this week before my next tournament. But I’m happy that despite the hard 2nd round, I managed to stay at the top and bring home 1st place.

  • In a field of 18 teams and over 100 golfers, I earned 6th place and our team finished 3rd. I had a decent day with a score of 82, but know I could have done better as I handful of putts that didn’t drop. It was a tough course, but a great experience.

  • Prep Tour’s Weibring Summer Jr. Classic
  • 7/25/22 to 7/26/22
  • I shot an 80 the first day and an 83 the second day at 5500 yards. My short game was pretty strong. I just didn’t have as many putts fall as I wanted to. I struggled a little with my driver, but have already been out practicing, making some adjustments to increase my distance and hit more fairways. I was very happy with my approach shots (irons, wedges, and hybrids) into the green.
