Personal Statement

My name is Jade Coady, I am 17 years old and I am a Senior at Williamsville High School in Williamsville Illinois. I am a dedicated student and golfer. I love to play sports. I have played many sports but I have realized that my best sports are golf and track and field. Although I love to throw and run, my passion is golf. My dream is to play college golf. This is my 5th year playing. I dropped my average by 8 strokes last summer and my average has continued to drop. One of my goals is to drop my average by another 2 to 4 strokes and be shooting in the upper 30's this year. I have played in all of the summer tournaments. I am currently taking private lessons from my Swing Coach Lance Flury as well as being coached by my school coach Shayla Croy.  I continue to improve everyday. I am committed to golf and am a very hard worker. Two years ago I lead my team to a 3rd place finish at regionals and qualified individually for sectionals where I gave a strong showing. This year I have my bar set a little higher.
I am a hard worker in the classroom as well. My freshman year, I started off at a school that did not suit me well and struggled academically. Midway through the year I switched schools and since then have been on the honor roll every semester. I get all A's and B's now. My GPA is rising every semester. It feels good to be back on the honor roll. I was an honor roll student during all of junior high also. My academic goal is to finish with at least a 3.5. I have learned to manage my time wisely. While co-captaining my high school team and getting it done in the classroom, I also have a part time job working 8-12 hours a week. This year has been a real turning point in my life and I am ready to take my school work and golf game to the next level.
As I mentioned earlier I also love to throw the shot put. I have done this and excelled at it since the seventh grade. I went to state my 7th and 8th grade years. During my freshman and sophomore years I had 1 second place finish, 1 third place finish and 4 fifth place finishes at the varsity level. I believe I could be an asset to many schools being a two sport athlete.
I am unsure of exactly what I want to study in college but am leaning towards architecture or maybe criminal justice. I took the ACT and had a composite score of 23. I have already planned to retake it to get a better score. I will update my portfolio as soon as my new score is available. Please contact me if you wish to have any additional information. Thank you for your consideration.
