Bretlyn Decker '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Bretlyn Decker. I am 16 years old and from Central City, Iowa. I have been golfing for as long as I can remember, but I really fell in love with the game three years ago when I started doing Iowa Junior PGA tournaments. Before then, I had just been playing for fun because we lived on a golf course and my whole family played. After that first PGA tournament I became extremely passionate about golf and started to become more competitive. I started practicing every day, and even started getting private lessons at Cedar Rapids Country Club. At first, I was not scoring too well, and often came in close to last place. With time and hard practice, I became a much better golfer due to people challenging me to better my golf game, and my hard work and dedication. I have received the title of "Player of the Year" in the Cedar Rapids Optimists tournaments. I am now placing much better in tournaments, making it to state, and competing with the best.

Golfing in college has been a dream of mine for a while now. Finding the right college for me is important, for not only my golf, but as well my academics. I am a good candidate for your program for several reasons; I am hard-working, dedicated, friendly, strong, and passionate. I believe my positive attitude on the course is one of the strongest parts of my game, making me excel in the mental game. Setting me apart form other recruits is how passionate I am for this game. I have always wanted to succeed and be the best that I can in golf and even academically. Working hard has always came easy to me because of this passion to succeed. Now entering my junior year of high school, I hope to continue to improve athletically and academically. I am very excited to continue my hard work in these last years of high school, then into college!
