My name is Abigail Caine. I am a freshman playing for Woodford County High School in Versailles. I practice daily and love the grind of becoming a better player. I have recently challenged myself to play longer yardages and have found some success. I have a top-three and two top 10's so far this high school season with a 72 and pair of 76's as my best scores. My highest was an 86 as I struggled on the green during that round.
At the Indiana Elite event in June, I shot a pair of 79's and then won my age group at the Pepsi Little Peoples Championship in Illinois (5400-yards) where I won by seven strokes with scores of 82-72.
A little more about me,
I started playing golf when I was six and instantly fell in love with the sport. My golfing tournament scoring average is 79.9, and I have pushed myself to longer distances. This year I set goals of average drive of 225, less than 30 putts in an 18 hole round and break 75 from 5400 yards and achieved all of those in competition.
My coaches have awarded me with the Yellow Jacket of the Year award three straight seasons. Aside from golf, I play varsity tennis for WCHS as well. During the summer months, I also help with the junior clinics at my local course and I run the SNAG GOLF program for Woodford County Parks and rec.
I would like to study something in the arts, but my mother is an occupational therapist, and my dad is a photojournalist, so both of their paths have rubbed off on me as well. There are courses in your arts program that I am extremely interested in.
I want to play college golf and have dedicated myself to this goal. I know the sacrifices that it takes and I've been willing to make them since day one. I work hard in school and have learned to study well while on the road at tournaments as well.
