I have always been an athlete. I have enjoyed playing golf, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and cross country. However, it was clear from an early age (3 years old), that I had a passion for playing golf. Every summer was spent on the course, with my parents. I started out just putting, then chipping onto the green, teeing off from the 150, to eventually demanding that I be allowed to tee off from the women’s tees. While practicing other sports always felt like somewhat of a chore, playing and practicing golf has always felt enjoyable. I told everyone who would listen that someday I would play collegiate golf. I have diligently pursued this goal with hours of practice, play, and mental preparation. I continue to fine-tune my swing, short game, and mental toughness. On the course, I have a calm and focused demeanor. I focus on one shot at a time and believe that every shot counts. I played on varsity during my freshman year of high school, which took a great deal of grit and confidence. Although I was the youngest player on the team, I stood out as a leader with my attitude and dedication to improving. During my freshman season, we went to the state championship. I started out with an 8 on a par 3 and as a result, was in last place most of the first day. Despite this intimidating placement, I did not let it deter me, I did not want to let my team or myself down. My team finished 6th in the state, the best finish ever in the school’s history. I finished 38th in the state and 2nd on my team. This was a humbling experience that taught me the importance of never giving up and having strong mental fortitude. I work year-round on perfecting my game. I play in tournaments in the off-season, as well as work with a private coach. I work out regularly and eat a healthy diet. I also continue to play high school basketball during the winter, because I believe that being part of another sport allows me to develop a diverse array of athletic and mental skills that further contribute to my improvement as an athlete. Academically, I am committed to being an excellent student and working hard to maintain a high GPA. I enjoy Mathematics, Art, and Physical Education. I also volunteer in the after-school tutoring program which helps elementary students improve in Math and Reading. I want to attend a college that will continue cultivating my passion for playing golf, allowing me to reach my full potential as an athlete and a student. I believe that my personality, leadership, and charisma will be an asset to any team I have the opportunity to join.
