Layne Kilroy '21 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Layne and I'm from Saint Clair Shores, Michigan. I have always dabbled in different sports but golf is the one that stuck. In high school I’ve played jv basketball and varsity tennis and I'm in ski club during the winter months. I started playing golf in the 8'th grade and made the Lakeview Girls Varsity Golf Team my freshman year. Since I have less experience than some of the other girls, I have been pushing myself to get better and I have been quick to pick up the rules and etiquette of the game but I still have room to grow.

I feel very fortunate to have trained under Coach Mazzola and I am thankful she was my first real contact with the sport. She inspired me though her passion for the game and her laughter lit up the course. I’ll always remember our time together and the lessons she taught me.                                                                                                                                            

Aside from sports I enjoy reading fictional novels, redecorating my bedroom, cooking with my dad, annoying my brother, taking videos of our pets and creating art through many different mediums.

Golf has become an important part of my life and I feel at home on the course. I love being away from social media and the politics of the class room. On the course I am at peace. There is a calmness that allows me to focus and clear my mind. I believe that life is good and I have a spirit to achieve great things.
