Although I first picked up a club only about two-and-a-half years ago, golfing has quickly become a passion for me that I`ve begun to devote more and more time and energy to. To be honest, athletics has not really been my thing in the past, but golf has fueled both a desire to improve and a drive to compete for me. As one of the highest sophomore golfers on my high school team, I quickly began to realize that this sport involves a lot of hard work and commitment. Luckily, with the help of my personal swing coach and supporting team captains, I have succeeded in improving my game significantly between my freshman and sophomore years. From my initial rounds as a freshman to our regional tournament my sophomore year, my score reduced by about twenty strokes. Improvements in distance, better control, an improved understanding of various clubs, and a more reliable short game helped me to achieve this. Currently, my focus in the off-season is on improving consistency with my swing (especially with irons), retaining the feel of a connected swing position, and participating in a core-strengthening program at the gym. I plan on continuing to devote time into my golf swing, and doing everything I can to lead my fellow teammates to success with me.
Academics has always been highly important to me, and I am interested in participating in STEM college programs and exploring the engineering field. The idea of enhancing my college experience by being a member of a golf team excites me, and I look forward to learning more about university athletic programs and options.
