Hello my name is Kayla Jones and I am Senior at West Wendover. I started playing golf my Freshman 2019 year. I had never played before and wanted to give it a try. I was very excited, my first tournament was in Round Mountain Nevada where I placed 5th. Our next one was in Wells Nevada where I placed 2nd after a tie breaker. I went on in that season to receive 2nd place at regionals and at state that year I had another tie breaker and placed 3rd. As a team, Lady Wolverines took 2nd place and received Academic State Champions. It was a very exciting first year of golf for me and I am so happy that I took a chance.
Unfortunately my Sophomore year is when COVID came along and we didn't have a season but I feel that I made up for it my Junior year. I took 1st place at every tournament that year including the 2A playoff becoming the only Lady Wolverine in our schools history to go undefeated in league play. At state that year I had another tie breaker coming in at 7th place.
I am now starting my Senior year and I am very hopeful for this golf season. I am going to continue doing my best and having fun. I am currently unsure where I want my future to go so I would like to see what opportunities are out there for me.
