Emma Winland '22 Recruiting Profile

Stepping out onto a golf course for the first time, I fell in love with the skill, strategy, and dedication that it takes to play golf.  That first round of golf was three years ago, the July before my freshman year in high school.  While I am relatively new to the game, I have dedicated myself to improving my skills and knowledge over the last three years, and feel that I have not yet hit my full golfing potential.  My goal is to take my strong work ethic, high self-expectations and desire for improvement to the next level to continue my golf journey in college.  

 While I hold high expectations for myself as a golfer, I also hold myself to those same expectations as a student.  So far in my high school academic career, have been successful at maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.  This school year I have challenged myself further by taking a full college course load, through Ohio's College Credit Plus Program at Ohio University Chillicothe.  Even though I have not settled on a major in college, I am looking for an institution that will provide a rigorous and challenging  academics.  

Away from golf, I am a four year member of the marching band and have taken on leadership roles within the band.   Additionally,  I am involved with my high school's Symphonic Band, Lead Team, Community Service Team, Peer Tutoring Team, Science Club,  and Drug-Free Clubs of America.  

Lastly, my goal is to become a part of a college golf program where I can continue to grow as a golfer, student, and be a part of a team.  I am an honest and hardworking individual looking for the right fir for my future.  I feel that I can be an asset to your golf program and university.
