Hi everyone, my name is Elizabeth but I go by Elle (pronounced like the letter L). I have been a golfer ever since I was 6 when I did summer camps with my brother. Golf was too slow of a sport for him but it was the perfect pace for me. I started doing summer tournaments with the Lima Junior Golf Association when I was 13 and came near last playing against the some best in the area. However, I kept persevering and have made tremendous progress from where I was 4 years ago. My most notable improvements came this year when I shot a 116 on my third match of summer tournaments and ended the year at sectionals shooting a 92 on the same course. I also became the first female golfer at my school to be first team all-conference in 12 years. This past season has amplified my grit, determination, and passion for golf as I worked hard on my own game as well as helped my teammates, who were all brand-new to golf, learn to love and respect the game as much as I do.
In addition to my leadership on the course, I serve as a leader off the course through my role as junior class president, organizing countless fundraisers and planning projects to prepare for prom and my class’ senior class trip. I am also a member of an award-winning competition dance team at The Dancer By Gina and serve as the Blue Jay, my high school’s mascot, at both home and away games during the football and basketball seasons. Needless to say, I’m a little busy, but I always make time for my academics.
I have dreams of becoming a pediatrician so I have been taking College Credit Plus courses since my freshman year to help minimize the debt of continuing my education. I currently have 19 college credits, including 3 from my score of a 4 on the AP English Language and Composition Exam, and am preparing to take my AP English Literature Exam and AP Biology Exam this coming May. My superstore on my ACT is a 34 composite with a 36 in English, 35 in Reading, and 33 in both Math and Science.
My dream college would be one with beautiful hiking or walking trails, a large variety of dining options especially ones that include lots of fresh produce, an affiliation with an osteopathic medical school, and a golf team that supports each other through thick and thin. If growing up in small-town, rural Ohio taught me anything, it would be that your town is your family, and your family is everywhere you look (just like corn) so I hope to join a campus that feels like home and make friends to last a lifetime. Thank you for reading about me, my hopes, and my history. I hope to hear from you soon, Elle Gable a.k.a. The Blue Jay
