Matilyn Zines '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Matilyn Zines and I am a motivated, competitive athlete who loves to compete as an individual and as a teammate. As I just started to compete in tournament golf two years ago as a sophomore, I believe I still have a very high ceiling in my game for development. I started individual golf lessons 2  years ado as a sophomore and our focus has been on improving my game from 120 yards and in. I believe this is the biggest reason for my recent successes.

I am a four-time varsity letterman, three-time team captain, and all-league selection in golf. I was 2nd team all-district and honorable mention all-league for the boys' team in 2021. In 2022 I won the Mahoning Valley Girls invitational, Greatest Golfer of the Valley runner-up, EOAC league Medalist, NE Ohio Sectional Medalist, NE Ohio District Medalist, and 11th out of 72 at the Ohio State Championships at OSU. In 2023 I won 7 tournaments with my low round being a 72. I recently repeated as Sectional and District State champion for D2. My current low rounds are 31 for 9 and 72 for 18. My current GHIN is 4.7

I have been a three-sport athlete all of my life and also perform in marching and concert band. I am a three time Varsity letterman in softball and was an all-conference infielder for the 2022 season. For the 2022 season, I am making the decision to not play basketball and focus on my strength and conditioning and golf game. My goals for my senior year of high school golf are to win the Ohio State championship and help my team be the first girls' team from my high school to qualify for state as a golf team.

My main focus has always been academics and I currently carry a 4.0-grade point average. My aspirations for college are to attend a school that has a good finance/accounting department as well as a competitive golf program. 

I am hardworking and coachable and will put in the work necessary to be competitive and help my team win. I believe I would be an asset to any women's golf team.
