Dana Franck '16 Recruiting Profile

My most memorable moment thus far in my Golf career was my Sophomore Year when I was the alternate at our Sectional Tournament.  The reason I was the alternate was because my teammate, who was a Senior and myself had been going back and forth with our scores.  My Coach thought that since we were so close that she would take the Senior teammate and I would go as the alternate.  I respected the decision made by my coach and was flattered to be part of the team.  As it turned out, the Senior teammate was not able to go so I ended up competing as the last spot on the roster in the Sectional Tournament leading our team to 3rd Place.  This qualified our team for the District Tournament, making history for our Ladies Golf Team at Oak Harbor High School.  My Junior year we tied for third place and had to use the fifth spot tie breaker, which did not allow us to proceed to the district tournament.  This was a turning point to realizing that each teammate has a key part in the team's success.  I have been involved in Cross Country, Swimming, Gymnastics and Track.  All sports that one would believe are individual sports but that is not the case at all.  There is nothing better than seeing your teammates finish competing and have achieved a personal best time or score.  Which in turn, makes for a memorable season as a team. 

I think I would be an asset to a collegiate team because of my excitement to improve at a sport that can continue throughout my life.  My formal training has been minimal with continued improvement.  This gives me confidence that with some collegiate coaching I will learn new techniques that will allow me to be a competitive teammate.  My character, work ethic and leadership skills allow me to perform under presssure and maintain my composure.  My goal is to move forward on a collegiate team with others who are passionate about golf!
