Caroline Sawin '11 Recruiting Profile

I have benefited from being the youngest of four avid athletes and as I approach my college decision their influence on me has been considerable. Most importantly, I am a dedicated scholar athlete who wishes to combine my love for sports with a highly challenging academic curriculum. Following their footsteps, I believe I would be a good fit for an Ivy or DIII program. I began playing golf for fun with my older siblings at age ten. I've played golf on my school's varsity team since 9th grade, along with soccer and squash but I only started playing tournaments last summer. Although I have focused primarily on competitive squash during my high school years, as I have grown and matured, my golf game is to the point where I believe I have the potential to continue to improve while contributing to a college golf program. I spent from 27 June-13 July playing in the German and Dutch Open Squash Tournaments. Since returing back to golf I have finished in the top three of several regional tournaments and won the first of the PGA Sky Caddie Series at Penn State (JGS) with a 78. I finished third overall in the three day tournament with 78-84-78. I am gaining confidence in my short game and course management. I believe I have the ability to improve my game to be shooting consistently in the 70's before the end of this summer. My brother, John, was a three-time All-Ivy and Captain of the Princeton ('07) golf team. My brother, Jeff, played golf and squash (Captain) at U.S. Naval Academy ('08). My sister, Alexandra, will enter Princeton this fall as a squash recruit.
