Rebecca Rodriguez '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Rebecca Rodriguez. I have been competitively playing golf for about four years and am currently playing for Mclennan Community College. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have at McLennan. It is a wonderful school and team and it has amplified my love for the game. I know that since it is a two year school, my time playing collegiate golf with this school is coming to an end but I would love to finish my last two years at another school so I can continue playing golf before I start my career as a nurse. I finished my first semester as a college student with straight A’s and made the traveling team to all fall tournaments. I did struggle a bit in the beginning with adjusting to the yardage and difficulty of the courses but with determination everyday and the guidance of my coaches and teammates, I am practicing and focusing more on short game and the importance of my mental game at each tournament. I’m learning lessons here during my time at McLennan that I use in both my academic and personal life and I hope to continue to learn more from another school for the next two years. I’ve been a Catholic my whole life and because of my faith, I am able to persevere and stay focused on my school and golf all while missing home and being away from my family and friends. I know that God will always put me on the right path as long as I look for it and I’m hoping my next journey will be to continue playing collegiate golf at a school that will help me grow as a person and prepare me to become a great nurse.
