I consider myself a late bloomer in golf because I didn't start playing tournament golf until my freshman year. Since then, I have grown 5 inches, changed to men's clubs and have had to change my swing several times. Before my freshman year, I was a competitive gymnast and diver from elementary through 8th grade.
I feel like I will be ready for the challenge of college golf because gymnastics and diving has made me a better athlete and student. These sports taught me a lot about time management and handling stress. With an average of 16 hours/week of practice from 3rd through 8th grade, I learned how to work hard and get things done efficiently. Also, my experience in technique adjustments allow me to absorb coaching suggestions quickly.
As a freshman and sophomore I lettered in golf and received academic all district. My freshman year I was also involved in FFA and raised a pig which I showed at the county fair.
Junior year I attended private school, AESA Prep Academy, and now as a senior I have returned to Dripping Springs HS so I can have the opportunity to play with my varsity team with a goal of qualifying for the state tournament. Over the last 3 years of golf I have lowered my average from a 110 to an 87, gotten a JGS ranking and increased the difficulty of my tournament play.
At AESA, I was the 4th/5th grade physical education assistant. In addition, I have volunteered for Austin Pets Alive in their foster dog program since freshman year.
