My Name is Kelsey Pollard, I'm in the class of 2023 and I am very ambitious and have big goals for myself. Despite being very self driven I am a strong competitor and I'm driven by my parents who were both strong athletes in highschool playing multiple sports. I played softball my whole life until right before my freshman year I decided that I was going to leave that behind me and play golf and landed myself a spot on my highschool varsity team in that year I got most improved on my golf team and really grasped a love for the sport and decided this was something I wanted to do at the next level. I really love how mental golf is and really makes you understand yourself better. On the other side of golf I enjoy how it's something you can almost do for the rest of your life and really created a strong bond between me and my dad.
On a personal level I babysit for the kids in my neighborhood and really try to make them feel important as well as help where they don’t always look. I enjoy finding a creative way to help them learn while helping with their homework and playing games with them. Through my experiences with these kids it has helped me to assist my younger sister who is on the spectrum for autism and has speech delay. She is definitely a little handful and helping her with her speech and how to use her words without getting frustrated has really been a big part of our relationship as well as being around each other and influencing one another to be better. This is where the drive for my major comes in. I want to major in Speech pathology, more on the speech therapy side of things and minor in business so I can ultimately open my own practice under my own stipulations and I can help as many kids as I can to get help without turning them away.
