Kelsey Wylie '19 Recruiting Profile

    I am a Junior at Faith West Academy, a private Christian school in Katy, Texas. I am a leader in my church’s youth worship band as well as my school’s chapel band.  In both bands, I play acoustic guitar and sing. As a freshman, I played on the varsity volleyball team for my school. However, this year I decided to take time off from volleyball so I have more time for golf because it is my dream and goal to play college golf. I am in all Pre-AP classes. In Junior High I was in National Junior Honors Society. I have been voted class secretary both freshman and sophomore years. I have been involved in National Charity League, Azalea Chapter since the 6^th grade.

            I have been playing golf competitively since I was 10 years old.  Most members of my family and extended family play golf. My 2 uncles and my grandfather (on my dad’s side) are golf professionals. My Uncle Randy is the men’s golf coach at Carson-Newman University in Tennessee. My Uncle Tag is a golf professional in North Carolina at Treyburn Golf Club in Durham, NC. My grandfather is a golf pro-emeritus at Holston Hills CC in Knoxville, Tennessee. My dad grew up playing golf and played golf at Virginia Tech. My dad has been my golf coach ever since I could hold a golf club.

            At age 10, I played STPGA Little Linksters until I was 13. I have played Beltway Junior Golf Tour for the last 3 years and in 2015, I was All-Tour Player of the year for the top girls Diamond division. For the past 2 years, I have played on the Texas Junior Golf Tour. I have been on my school golf team for the last 2 years. This past year, I have dedicated myself to practice because I aspire to play Division 1 golf. My hard-work and dedication has really paid off this year and I can’t wait to see what comes next. During the school season, I placed 2^nd at state. This past summer, I made my first hole-in-one and I also shot my first under-par round. I am hardworking, coachable, and a good teammate. I have good sportsmanship and love to compete.
