I started playing golf at the end of Summer '22 and was determined to keep my head down, practice hard and try out for the high school team the '23 school year. When I started, I was shooting 120 plus and now I’m shooting in the 80s, with my lowest score being an 78. I was able to reach my goal when I tried out for my schools golf team at the beginning of this school year and made the Varsity team. I will continue to work hard to keep meeting my goals as I am just getting started in my golf career and intend to be in this for the long run.
While I realize that other golfers have years of experience over me and I could be considered "late to the game", I believe my hard work, determination, dedication and persistence sets me above and will continue to help me reach my goals. I am the first one to the range and the last one to leave, rain or shine, hot or cold. I believe you should work hard for everything you want and nothing should come easy; same goes for golf in my opinion.
My peers have told me my goals are unrealistic since I just started playing golf, but my Dad always told me that if my goals don't scare me, they aren't big enough.
I would love to play golf while getting a degree in college. Although, I am undecided on my major I do know that I would love to incorporate golf into my career in some way.
