I am no stranger to long practices, hard work, and dedication. As a former state gymnast I have spent countless hours finessing strategic techniques to perform executed movements in a highly intense environment. After injury ended my gymnastics career, I regained focus on a sport I learned at the age of 4. The past 5.5 years I have spent countless hours pushing myself to improve not only physically with my swing and stamina but mentally as well. This also applies to my academics. I have challenged myself by taking AP and on ramps classes, and pursuing certifications including earning my Certification for Medical Assistant and passing my National license. I’m leaning on pursuing a physical therapy degree, but I never sell myself short on my ability to strive for more. My goal is to play collegiate golf with a team and coach that demonstrates high motivation, excellent camaraderie, and a team as a whole who not only will push each other, but just support each other as well.
I have been very fortunate to be a part of a team that is so well put together by our coach. We not only push ourselves but we push each other and that has helped me more than anything. When I put my mind to something I will achieve it no matter the circumstances. I am the first person on the golf course before practice and I am one of the last ones to leave after school practice. I dedicate myself to achieve the goals I want and not let anyone stand in the way of it. Leadership is a very important thing to me, when I first started high school golf I never had a great team leader but I have learned from that experience and I wanted to change that going forward. Even though I was one of the youngest on the team, that didn’t stop me from being a good leader. I have also learned a lot my freshman year when I did not make the varsity team. Finding out I didn’t make it was frustrating but I worked harder than everyone and it resulted in me making it to regionals on my own. I missed going to state by two shots but still got to go as an alternate with my team and I learned so much watching that golf tournament from the outside point of view. Starting from that moment on I realized I wanted to lead my team to the state tournament for the next three years that I am here, which just ending my junior year we finished 5th in State. Now as one of the older players, I aim to help the younger girls and be that great leader.
Thank you so much for taking time to read this personal statement. I hope you take the words I have said into consideration.
