Swing Video for NSCAHi, my name is Payton Cox and I would be interested in earning a scholarship to play college golf! I have a goal to get my Education Degree and become an Elementary School Teacher. I am a dedicated student-athlete. I work hard in the classroom and out on the course. I have a 96.575 GPA out of 100. I am the leader on the golf team and help my teammates however I can.
What makes me different from other student-athletes is I first picked up a golf club my freshman year of high school because the coach needed a 5th player to complete the golf team. He told me he didn’t care what I scored, he just needed my effort to compete. In my first round of 18 holes, I shot a 137. I took some private lessons and worked with my HS coach, and the number started to come down. Then Covid hit, and our season ended early, but I was able to keep working on my swing/game by participating in the Beltway Junior Golf Tour in Central Texas. The score kept coming down and I began to fall in love with the game.
In my Sophomore year, I broke 100 and then set a goal to be consistent in the 90’s. In District play, I qualified for the Regional Tournament as an individual. At Regional I shot my personal best of 92 and qualified for the State Golf Tournament. At State I lowered the personal best again and shot a 90. I ended up 26th out of 72 in the 3A division.
Since then this summer I have been playing lots of golf. I lowered my personal best again with an 87 at Beltway Juniors on Jul 21, 2021.
My goal now is to get to the 70s!!
