My name is Rachelle Allison McGinnis and prefer to go by Allison. I have been playing golf competitively for about four years now. With the encouragement of a friend, I started playing golf in the eighth grade, and throughout these years, I have truly developed a love for the game ever since.
The drive and love I have for golf has led me to choose it as my primary sport in high school. My goal as an incoming freshman was to make the varsity team, and with the support of my family, they were able to hire a private swing coach to help me reach my goal. The summer going in as a freshman, I practiced daily, met with my swing coach weekly, and played approximately twenty tournaments. My scoring average that summer was a 108, not great by any means, but I was proud of what I had accomplished and it had given me the determination to improve. Throughout my freshman year, I continued to work hard and practice. I practiced daily with my team, weekends with my dad and swing coach, and by the end of the season I had dropped my scoring average to a 96. I knew I could do better so I worked harder the summer after my freshman year. I dedicated my whole summer to training, practice, and playing tournaments and by the end of my sophomore year I had improved my scoring average 85.
I have trained hard this past summer and now my scoring average is a 77 and I even posted my first subpar round. I’ve done all my practicing this summer at 5,800 yards and beyond. My goal for my junior year is to consistently post scores in the low 70’s, and I know with my drive and hard work, I will achieve my goal.
I have a strong desire to play at the collegiate level, but I want to make sure I chose a school that is right for me. My education has always been a priority, instilled in me by my parents. I love school and being able to learn new things; I have a perfect attendance record from pre-kinder to now. I currently have a 3.75 GPA and am putting in the extra effort to improve this as well. I am currently part of the high school Robotics Team, all honors classes with the exception of science, STEM Scholar, Career Scholars, Distinguish Academic Scholars, National Honors Society, and the Rio Grande Valley Lead Program.
I am a devout Catholic and have been an Altar Server since third grade, and currently am the Head Altar Server at my church. I am very committed to the word of God and strongly believe that along with my hard work, my faith and trust in God has brought me where I am today, and will continue to guide me where I want to be in the future.
My college goal is to receive the best education and be part of a supportive team that is committed to each other and their goals. A united team is essential for individual improvement not just in golf, but also in life.
