The reason I want to play college golf and golf in general is because I like the sport and I'm good at it. Golf has given me the opportunity to travel and play many awesome golf courses during every type of weather imaginable. I have also made good friends and met many nice people which include the tournaments staff. For me, life without golf would be boring.
Golf was not my first sport to play. When I was younger I played soccer, flag football, baseball, tennis, and for three years, I was the catcher for a girl’s fast pitch softball team. While playing softball, I started attending a once a week after school golf clinic with other kids. During the golf clinics, I noticed that hitting golf balls was easier for me compared to the other kids which is why I kept going back. After getting hit several times while catching for a wild fast softball pitcher, and going to the emergency room with broken fingers and other injuries, I decided to stop softball and focus on golf, where I hit the ball and the ball was not coming at me 60 mph.
I continued to practice golf and started taking lessons from my coach Stephen Aumock in 2012. During March of 2013, I played and won my first tournament which was nine holes and coincidentally on the same day as my birthday, which made for an awesome present. After that, I realized that I wanted to play golf and that I was going to have to practice a lot in order to be competitive with girls my age and older. At this point, my competitive nature kicked in, and I started getting serious about golf and entered more tournaments. Since that first tournament I have played in over 85 tournaments in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, North Carolina and Florida.
I am working to improve all aspects of my game and have worked hard to get technically, physically and mentally stronger this last year. I want to be competitive and I want to win as many tournaments as possible, while improving my game.
I work out two days a week before school with a trainer at AMPD Golf fitness to get stronger and keep my body neutral. I also practice my short game once a week before school when I have the chance and not to busy.
I work hard to balance my education with Golf and I’m currently averaging an A grade in all of my courses. I am in my third year of learning the German language, which I love.
I would like to attend a college where I will be challenged in the classroom as well as on the golf course. I would like to earn a degree in education so I can someday be a teacher and hopefully a girl’s golf coach after I retire from the LPGA.
