I have always worked towards being a collegiate athlete. I was a highly competitive tennis player for over five years, and was previously ranked top 10 in the state. Due to a severe shoulder injury, I was forced to quit. In November of 2020, I tried golf for the first time - I had never in my life swung a club before. Although I have only been playing golf for a couple of months, I have improved all aspects of my game at a rapidly alarming rate. Now consistently shooting in the low 80s, I tried out and immediately made the Plano West Golf team. I am looking forward to starting my first ever season as a senior, and am honored to be a part of such a friendly and driven team. Dedicating more than four hours daily to golf, I am fully committed to getting better. Hitting balls on the range, improving my short game, and playing on different golf courses have continually furthered my passion for golf and subsequently lowered my scores. Although I am new to this sport, I have always worked harder than anyone else around me. My constant desire to improve myself and my game sets me apart from others. Easily coachable, I not only listen to feedback from my coaches, but I also find ways to improve on my own. If I start three-putting, I pull out my mat and work on my putting stroke for an hour. If my mental game is wavering, I work on releasing tension and negative thoughts from my body and reviewing notes from my Mental Performance Mastery course. I lift weights and work out to maintain a healthy body as well as reduce the risk of injury. This same mindset is applied to my academics, where I challenge myself by taking college-level AP classes and outside-of-school dentistry courses. I have been a straight-A student my entire high school career, and I take learning and volunteering as a member of the National Honor Society very seriously. I not only study hard to maintain a high GPA and excel in my understanding of class material, but I also work on setting a positive example for my fellow peers. My friendly and enthusiastic personality, as well as my work ethic, would make me an excellent addition to your college team.
