Hello, my name is Paige Zehner and I’m a student at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, Texas (Class of 2023). I have been playing golf for a little over five years. I joined the girl's golf team in middle school and currently play on my high school varsity team. Neither of my parents are golfers, so learning to navigate competitive golf was challenging. I have learned so much since starting in seventh grade and now golf is more than just a sport to me. While it’s still a great social activity, it has taught me many valuable life skills along the way, such as patience, concentration, control of emotions, critical thinking, etiquette, and honesty. Golf has developed into what I am sure will be a life-long passion.
Despite the difficulties COVID has created for all of us, golf courses were open and I took full advantage of the opportunity. Over the last year, I was able to play in more tournaments than in years past, and it has propelled me into a deeper level of competition. I’m currently working to build greater strength to achieve longer drives, watching film and computer analysis to improve my swing, and putting in hours of practice each day to fine-tune my game. This year, my team made some history being named 6A State Champions, as well as placing 2nd at the National Championship. In addition to school tournaments, I will continue weekly tournaments that are hosted by STPGA or US Kids Golf.
Golf is both a physical and mental sport, and I am not afraid to put in the time and effort to be the best that I can be. I continually work at creating a balance between academics and athletics. I am actively involved in Model United Nations and serve as the Vice President of Philanthropy for the National Charity League in the Stone Oak Chapter. One of my favorite hobbies is to go rock climbing and enjoy nature. I have been rock climbing for almost two years, and I even get to assist in climbing instruction camps for children at my local gym. In my free time, I enjoy traveling internationally. I love seeing new places and experiencing different cultures. I would love the opportunity to continue my golf career at a collegiate level, and I will give your team everything I’ve got! I look forward to hearing from you.
