Hello Coach,
My name is Savannah Bowie and I am a Senior at Hockinson High School here in Vancouver, Washington. I have been playing golf since 8th grade (When I was 14 years old). I am 6’1” and 145 pounds.
I would like to play collegiate golf because I believe the experience i would be able to take away would not only make me a better golfer, but a better person as well. I love the challenge golf makes you face. It’s an individual sport, so how well you end up doing is really up to you, and how much work/effort you put in is up to you as well. I know that with starting later in the game I am competing with thousands of girls who started very young and have more experience over me, but that will not stop me from putting in the effort to become one of them. Some qualities I try to portray to my teammates and coaches are good sportsmanship and good communication. If I can thrive in a positive environment with my other teammates no matter how well we are doing, I know for a fact i can succeed on my own because I am always focusing on the positive.
I have not set myself on a major yet, for I am still seeking out different options for whay fits with me, but I am leaning towards business as an option.
My desired goals for college golf are to be able to play on the team and not sit out the whole season, as well as shave my score down and become a better player as well. I want to participate in tournaments around the country. Traveling has always been a high expectation for me, for I have always loved to travel to different places but I also love the challenge of playing in a new environment. I do understand grades and academics are very important, especially as a college athlete. I have maintained a GPA of 3.87 since my freshmen year and have also been apart of the National Honors Society. I also am on the school board an am the Executive President for Hockinson High School. I got chosen my senior year and received a scholarship to play golf a my local Country Club, Royal Oaks. One Junior girl and one Junior boy gets chosen each year to have this scholarship until the time they graduate. The main goal of receiving this scholarship is to help you become a better player and better knowledge of the game of golf in general. I am proficient with time management and communication when it comes to school and balancing out my priorities in general.
A college that I think would best fit my needs as golfer and student would be a smaller school and a Division II golf team. Playing time is important to me and a requirement I wish to achieve.
I hope this information has educated you well enough to get to know me as a golfer and person in general. Thank you for taking the time to review my profile!
Thanks again,
Savannah Bowie
