Personal Statement

I have been playing golf for Regis University for the past two years. As a Sophomore I traveled to every tournament the team has participated in and played in the 1-2 or 3 position. Having started the game later than most, my love for golf has continued to grow and I continue to improve. As a result I am interested in pursuing a college that offers advancement opportunities to the next level and have to come to the conclusion I can only achieve that by playing for another University

I have enjoyed my time at Regis however I am looking to be part of a team that has more dedicated and committed players. I would like to be part of a program that offers a team spirit but being competitive in order to push each other to become better players. I am also looking for a hands on coach who will help me take my game to the next level. Finally I want to be a part of a program that will help me grow as a person and as a player.

I have a deep appreciation and love for the sport of golf. I am a dedicated and a hard working athlete. Fitness and living a healthy lifestyle is very important along with golf since it’s a sport I play with my whole family and hope to play for the rest of my life. I shot 80, 76, 156 total. I was tied for 16th out of 72 players. The conditions were tough with cold weather, wind, and rain. I was unhappy with my results since I knew I could have played better on this course. I was 2 under through 9 holes on the second day of the tournament but ended 3 over. This definitely showed me that I had to work on my mental game of staying focused through all 18 holes. This was our last tournament of the fall and it made me determined to work hard and have a great spring season to show my true potential.

9/25/17 to 9/26/17
This was my first tournament of the fall season since I had suffered a lower back injury at the beginning of the season. I was very nervous going into this tournament since I had to take it easier than I would have liked in practice as well as the fact that I had not been participating in tournaments. I shot 76, 75, 151 total. I finished tied for 12th out of 90 players. I was somewhat happy with these results since I put up a decent score for my team and proved to myself that I wouldn't let my injury hold me back however I know I should have and could have scored lower.

I shot 76, 71, 81 and I finished tied for 13th. I was very happy with my first two rounds at the Home Course. The course was playing fairly tough especially on day two. I was one of two scores under par on the second day. I believe my nerves and mental game got the best of me on the final day since I had little experience with being in one of the final groups in such an impressive field. However this tournament taught me a lot and showed me how much potential I have to be a good player that is frequently in the running for winning a high profile tournament. This tournament helped me believe in myself and want to keep on improving my game.

My team won our Conference Championship which was an amazing experience. We were able to come together and pull out that 1st place finish. I shot 79, 76 which was not what I wanted to shoot for myself or my team. However the feeling of competition and coming down 18 knowing we are close to winning and need to seal the deal is a feeling I will never forget.

This tournament was very important to me since my whole spring season I had not been playing to my potential. My coach decided to take me to this tournament as an individual since I had not been preforming well. This was a big shock to me and definitely put some fire under my belt. One of my team mates ended up getting sick so I ended up not playing as an individual but for the team. I had the best score on my team of 74, 74, 148 total with a finish of 19th out of 100 players. This finish meant a lot to me because I needed to prove to not only my team and my coach but to myself that I more potential and skill than what I was showing.

I shot 81, 79, 160 total for a 23rd out of 105 players finish. I was not happy with my results however this was a difficult golf course and even with my poor scores I did not finish terribly in the field. This was a good tournament for me since I learned a lot about my game and what I needed to do to improve for the next tournament.

I shot 79, 81, 160 total for this tournament. I was very unhappy with how I played and how I was playing this spring season. I had had such better results in the fall and not being able to practice everyday because Denver was often covered with snow affected my mental and physical game. I had to really work on staying focused and trying to improve my game any way I could.

I finished tied for 7th out of 69 players. I shot 77, 78, 155 total. I was not particularly happy with my results since I wanted to shoot lower and hopefully get a top 3 finish however the wind was blowing over 30 mph that tournament so I was happy with how I preformed in tough weather conditions. My team took first in this tournament which was a fun experience.

I finished tied for 23rd out of 73 participants. I shot 80 for my first round and was extremely upset with those results. The next day I came out strong and shot 73 the next round. My total score being 153. I was disappointed with my first round but learned a lot about not giving up, coming back, and learning from my mistakes.

I finished 43rd out of 100 players with a score of 78, 77, 155 total. I was disappointed with my scores this tournament and how I finished however my scores helped my team finish 2nd overall.

Finished second in my first college tournament with a score of 77, 74, 151 total. I also had my first hole in one on my second round of the tournament.

I shot 72, 74 and tied for first place. This was a great tournament for me and it gave me the motivation to work harder for my next tournament to win instead of tying for first.

I tied for fourth in this one day event shooting a 75. This was a decent score for me and only pushed me to work harder to come in first next time with an even lower scores!

I shot 77, 84 this tournament. I am disappointed with my results but I learned a lot and hope to improve for the next tournament.

2014 Northwest Junior Open

I competed at the 2014 Northwest Junior Open at Trophy Lake and McCormick Woods in Port Orchard, Washington. For the girls 10th-12th grade division, slope and rating for the first day at Trophy Lake was 71.1 and 127 with a yardage of 5342. McCormick Woods, played on Sunday, was 5300 yards and a 71.6/127. The first day I was able to shoot a 77 followed by a 76 allowing me to finish second in the tournament.

In the Girls Open Division I was tied for eighth with the scores of 84,83. I was happy with this tournament because even in the extreme heat I strived to shoot in the low 80s and still left strokes out there.

I came in second place in my flight which was the second champions flight. I was proud of myself for doing as well as I did especially since I have never played Match Play.

The first day I shot an 86 under harsh conditions at Canterwood Golf Course. The next day I shot my best tournament round of 76 under even worse conditions at Gold Mountain Cascade Course.

I shot an 88 and came in 6th out 16 girls. The conditions were very harsh with the temperature being around freezing and blowing winds and rain. I did not wish to play in these conditions but I pushed through and finished the best I could have.

This tournament was in the middle of my varsity volleyball season. I remember being very nervous since I had not practiced in weeks. I placed 11th out of 20 girls. I had very low expectations because I was going through a swing change at the time. I scored an 84 for the first day and then shot an 89 the second. Even though I didn't have high expectations I was somewhat disappointed with an 89 even though it was a much harder course than the one before.

I went into this tournament very nervous since there was no practice range and I was playing with girls that always place in the top 5 and I had never met them before. The first day I scored 85 and the next day shot an 83. I came in 5th overall out of 19 girls. I was proud of myself for scoring in the 80's twice. This tournament made me realize that I could soon shoot in the 70's with a little work and focus.

I tied 8th of 22 girls with scores of 79 and 95. The temperatures were very hot on both days and the second day I believe I experienced heat stroke and why I played so poorly after a good first round. I was also really nervous because I was in 3rd place after the first day. I learned a lot in the second round.

My scores for the 2 day OGA Major event were 91 and 83 and I tied for 9th in the Intermediate Girls event.This was the first major event I played in my golf career.

It was my first real tournament and I shot 117 and came in 16th out of 17 girls. I was so disappointed.

2013-14 Winter Series
The day was extremely cold and it was my first tournament in the Girls division instead of intermediate girls. I had recently finished my volleyball season and decided that golf would be my only sport so I really wanted to play even though I knew I would be rusty. I finished 8th overall out of 22 girls. I scored 89 which I was not too happy with because I knew I could do better. I realized that it is important to play in the cold more often so I can be more prepared for the various elements.

AwardsHonor Roll: Second honors first semester of my freshmen year (2013), First honors every other semester of my high school career 2014.
ActivitiesI am a camp counselor for a non profit Christian organization for disabled children called Camp Attitude. Also I am on Student Counsel at my high school. I lead a ministry choir for my school. I started this group so there would be music at our weekly masses in school. I am also Head Cheerleader and Co Captain on my Cheer Team and have been since my Junior year. I am currently on Core Ministry Team which is a team that is hand picked by our leader/Theology Teacher Mr. Chan where we lead retreats, create service opportunities, and arrange mass and spiritual/religious events.
