Mackenzie Morehouse '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Mackenzie Morehouse. I am a 16 year old at Ridgefield High School in Connecticut. My athletic career started at age 5 when I was approached during ice skating lessons by 2 former Ukrainian Ice Dance National Team members who wanted to work with me. I spent the next 4 years training 1:1 in competitive figure skating until I came to realize my real passion was for gymnastics. At age 10, I left figure skating and joined Gymnastic Spectrum’s Competitive Xcel team at the Silver level. 

My skills in figure skating transferred easily to the mats and I progressed quickly in 4 years through the Xcel levels to Sapphire. My passion for the sport makes me a driven and determined athlete and since I’m not afraid to try new skills, I continue to challenge myself and impress my coaches. 

My gym has only offered an Xcel program and doesn’t have any gymnasts in the development program, but last year my coaches and I decided to make the transition into DP and I competed level 9. The environment of DP was much more intense, but I found myself eventually loving the pressure. I made it to Level 9 Eastern Nationals and my Region 6 team took 1st place. I am entering this competitive season at Level 10 and I plan to work harder than ever to achieve my goals. 

Being the highest level at my gym, I do not have a team to train with, but I have a huge cheering squad of gymnasts who look up to me as their role model. I miss having a team, but I am paving the way for future gymnasts in my gym. I look forward to continuing to inspire those around me as I further my gymnastics career, hopefully at the college level.
