I’ve been doing gymnastics for over 12 years and my passion for the sport continues to grow exponentially. I not only want to continue gymnastics at a collegiate level but I’m excited about using my love for languages to pursue a career in Linguistics or Foreign Languages as a college student.
Gymnastics is a sport that is as much mental as it is physical. At the age of 12, I struggled with the decision to pursue gymnastics and took a year off to learn diving skills and compete on a dance and acrobatics team. At the end of that first competitive dance season, I realized I did enjoy dance but my ultimate passion is gymnastics so I returned to gymnastics and immediately resumed training as a Level 8. I returned with more passion and mental resilience than before and went on to be a Regional Vault Champion 2 years in a row.
I enjoy the grace, precision, and competitiveness of the sport. As soon as I was old enough to work I took a job as a beginning Gymnastics instructor and I’m fortunate to work with children and my peers teaching gymnastics skills.
As a part of my gymnastics development, I set skill-level goals and I work diligently with my coaches and teammates to achieve these goals. I also help others set and achieve their goals as well. My teammates and I are able to hold each other accountable and encourage each other to perform our best.
I would say what makes me stand out is how much I care about others around me and what I do to make them feel seen and heard. I love to be around and to project positive energy. Gymnastics brings that energy by being both fun and technically precise. I enjoy watching my teammates succeed as much as I enjoy succeeding in my events. I look forward to continuing gymnastics on a collegiate level and adding to my gymnastic family.
