Personal Statement

My Name is Ryley McNinch, I am a level 10 gymnast, going into my sophomore year, I live in Ontario Canada.

I have been doing gymnastics for 12 years, it is my passion, I knew from a very young age that gymnastics was the sport I wanted to do. The feeling of working to get a new skill or perfecting a routine, failing over and over again, until you perfect it is what captivated me from the start.

Over the years, gymnastics has taught me valuable lessons about discipline, perseverance, and resilience. Training as a level 10 gymnast has been both challenging and rewarding. Balancing the hours of practice, conditioning, and recovery, while still managing a 4.0 GPA has strengthened my time management skills and taught me the importance of setting and achieving my goals.

Last year, my first and only year in level 9 I worked hard and recovered from injuries to qualify for Canadian Nationals in British Columbia. Becoming the National Bar champion and 2nd all around is something I am very proud of in my first time being old enough to qualify. This year, I competed at Level 10 and successfully qualified for Nationals. Team Ontario faced a shortage for Easterns, and I was honoured to join them. At Easterns, I achieved 1st place overall on Floor and contributed to the team's 1st place overall finish

I always love to cheer my teammates on and give them pep talks when they are having

a rough time. This is why when I was named team captain at my first nationals in 2023 I was very grateful and will always remember it.

Gymnastics continues to be a defining part of my life. I will continue to push my limits, aiming for higher achievements, and inspiring others through my journey in this sport.
