I began playing hockey when I was five years old, after trying other sports. Since then, it has become a major aspect of my life. When I first started playing I was naturally athletic and scored often, but as I moved to more competitive levels it became more of a challenge. I realized that to be a better hockey player and compete at this higher level, I needed to work harder on and off the ice. This realization has helped me reach my past goals and continue my growth, not only as a student-athlete, but as a person.
I understand how important my grades are to my future. I am very dedicated to excelling in school and take multiple AP courses while upholding a high GPA. I plan to pursue a degree in Engineering in college.
For the last three years, I have paid for my hockey season on my own by working as a commercial fishermen in Bristol Bay, Alaska. This job is defiantly not the easiest but it has taught me about working hard and pushing myself in order to reach my goals.
I have been blessed to play for the Anchorage Northstars, starting in the 8th grade. During my second season, my coaches asked me if I would switch to defense and after that I have mostly played defense. Recently, I have been playing both forward and defense and I find it to be a great experience. My sophomore year, I was given the honor of assistant captain and my team won the 2017 U16 tier 2 National Championship, after losing in the U14 tier 2 quarter finals the year before. Junior year, I played for the tier 1 U16 Northstars team and I defiantly learned a great deal at this new level of play. We lost at regionals in a very close championship game to end our season. Although the loss was heart breaking, it has taught me a lot about myself and it has only fueled me to work harder.
My goal for my final season before college is to attend nationals one more time. My long term goal is to play competitive hockey in college while earning a degree.
I am a dedicated teammate, adapt well to challenging situations, and I love being on the ice. I know I can bring a lot to your team and hope you will consider me.
