I have been playing hockey since I was five years old. My love for the sport grew every time I would skate up and down that 180 feet sheet of ice. As I grew up with the sport, I continued to learn from it. I learned about leadership by being a leader and captain for my hockey teams and how to throughly communicate with my teammates and coaches. My family has a lot of glasses users and poor eyesight, some of my family members have even gotten eye surgery to stop using glasses. Realizing at eight years old, how many people are affected by poor eyesight and need glasses I started to have a passion for learning more about optometry and what optometrists were. I decided in grade three that I wanted to reach my new goal of helping others that struggled with their eyesight and eyes. So I kept up with my studies and strived in my hockey career. Now in my high school years I have kept my grades all in the 90% range and have pushed myself to succeed in my classes.
