I am well acquainted with the requirements and responsibilities of being an academically advanced student athlete. I have kept straight A's my whole life, even with all honors and AP courses. An influential part of my life lied within the past three years before this season when I would travel five hours round trip four days a week while still maintaining my GPA, rarely missing a practice. This taught me to organize my time effectively and be responsible with my work. Another influence in my life was martial arts. I began tae kwon do at a young age, reaching 2nd degree black belt after being committed to it for five years. It shaped me as a person by teaching me to be honorable and respectful, while also giving me confidence in myself to be a leader among my peers.
I take commitment to my team seriously, and having played various sports where I competed as an individual before I found hockey, I have learned that I will always be a team player rather than a player looking out only for herself. I have been told that I am highly coachable and throughout my life I have learned that it is better to go about life with a positive attitude and to not dwell on the negatives that I encounter as it is not worth the effort to get upset about anything that won't matter in the end. I want to have a college experience that allows me to fulfill my academic potential while also playing on a team that feels more like a family than a roster of individuals.
