My goal is to play competitive college hockey while getting a degree in mechanical engineering.
I fell in love with hockey after attending a Give Hockey A Try event and demanded on the spot that my parents sign me up for a learn-to-play hockey class. After playing defense for 2 years, I switched positions to goalie and have played on both boys’ and girls’ travel and tier teams. This gave me an opportunity to experience different styles of hockey and better understand the game and its nuances. I am also volunteering at Cathy Andrade’s Extra Hour Hockey Training Facility in San Jose helping my goalie coach train younger goalies at his weekly clinics. I was invited to participate in the USA Hockey Pacific District Goaltending Development Camp in 2019 (no camp in 2020 due to COVID) and have been selected to attend the USA Hockey Pacific District Girls Player Development Camp in May of 2021.
I have maintained high academic standards while training 10-12 hours per week, practicing karate, and volunteering. I am currently in 11th grade (GPA: 4.68/4.0: PSAT: 1450) at Basis Independent Silicon Valley High School (ranked #1 STEM high school in California and #2 nationwide) graduating in the spring of 2023. I always loved building and designing. I created a device for testing cancer drugs and another to remove plastics from the ocean, both of which were presented at Synopsys Science & Technology Championship. To further explore my interest in designing new things and to solve problems, I intend to become a mechanical engineer.
