Playing ice hockey is my way of letting go of reality and focusing on the task at hand. Whenever I play, my goal is to simply try my best and to have fun while doing it. To me, hockey isn’t just a physical game; it’s a mental one, and I use it to my advantage while reading plays and anticipating the correct position to be in.
Hockey has taught me to be a team player and leader, to thrive under a group of players who lift each other up, and to make sacrifices to reach goals. Ever since I started playing on competitive tiered teams, I’ve wanted to play at a collegiate level. My dream is to be able to play hockey with a group of people I know I'll become close friends with, and to share both triumphs and upsets, as well as memories, with them.
Off the ice I make sure to keep up with my academics. Because I value school as much as I do hockey, I’ve learned to become efficient with my time and to manageably juggle multiple aspects of my life. I hope that whatever college I attend, I will be able to do the same with my time so that I can study my desired field of interest while simultaneously playing the sport I love.
