I started playing hockey at the age of six. I fell in love with the sport while watching my two older girl cousins play. I loved the team aspect of the sport as well as the individual challenges. At the age of 11 I switched to the position of goalie, and have stuck with it since. When coaches, family, and friends ask me "why goalie" my response is always I love the pressure of being the last line of defense and how important the position is to the team.
From my first high school game to my last game as a freshman, in the state semi finals, I learned that not only could I handle high school hockey but I believe I can become one of the best goalies in the state. At my first high school game I was overwhelmed with fear and thought that I was not ready, but as the season progressed and I earned more playing time I realized that I could thrive in high school hockey. Being chosen as starting goalie in the state playoffs and making it to the semifinals was the highlight of my hockey career. When I was chosen as all conference as a freshman it was a wonderful ending to the very successful first high school season. I strive to challenge myself in the classroom as much I do on the ice.
