Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Katie. I, at age 4, was so bored with figure skating, I craved action. So, I asked my dad if I could play hockey. He, of course, agreed. I can't remember what drew me to specifically hockey, but since I've started, it's impossible to see myself away from it. It's my passion! The speed of the game, the quick decision-making, the competition, the friendships I've made, the highs, the lows have all made me who I am today. Hockey has changed and shaped me so much as an athlete and person. I've learned the value of knowing you have to put in hard work and make sacrifices to succeed. This helps me succeed as a student. I know my education will have a vital impact upon what I do for a career, and hockey has given me the discipline to work hard. I am very good at math, and enjoy the STEM part of my schooling, in particular computer science. I utilize opportunities given to me such as taking summer courses to get ahead to expand my regular year with extra electives. I am in the Math Honors Society(Mu Alpha Theta), French National Honors Society, and have gotten my first award from high school for being a straight A student as a freshman. I plan on continuing my academic success and playing hockey in college. I hope you consider me for your college team!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
