Dear coaches,
When I first started playing hockey, I had a coach who went on to play D1 college hockey and I aspire to be just like her. Once I started playing at the Chicago Fury as a u12 goaltender I knew that I had to physically and athletically excel to have more opportunities.
I feel that playing AAA hockey for the past seven years has prepared me for the pressure of having to balance school work, athletics, games, and travel. I have been able to maintain around a 4.9 GPA throughout my 3 years of high school where I take many honors and AP classes. Due to my schedule I have developed excellent time management and organizational skills. My enthusiasm, work ethic and leadership skills are all things my coaches and teachers have often commented on. What makes me different from other recruits is not only that I push myself to do better but I also push my teammates and others to do the best they can. I have the desire to do the very best I can every time I step on the ice with a positive mental attitude. Being positive and being able to handle criticism is very important for me to be able to grow as a person and athlete. Not only that, but I also push myself to do the best I can in school no matter what.
In the past couple of years I have been fortunate enough to attend the College Hockey Showcase and be selected for the RUSH hockey showcase tournament. I have used the information given back to me to improve my skills so I know that I am doing the best I can. All of these experiences have confirmed that I am on the right track to where I want to go. As I continue to pursue my goals in both academics and athletics, I am committed to being a large asset and leader to my team and coaches. I hope to leave college as a student athlete that my teachers and coaches are proud of and as someone who takes the same work ethic on and off the ice to my future career and beyond.
