Dear Coaches,
I've had my sights set on college hockey since I was young. I grew up watching my older brothers play on their high school and club teams and eventually going on to play college hockey so I have been emerged in the lifestyle, culture, and love for the game as long as I can remember. I genuinely became dedicated and committed to my goals and improvement around middle to high school when I started seeing the competitiveness and opportunities hockey truly gave me and the positive impact it had made on my life and I became devoted to keeping it in my life. Playing high level hockey in my area comes with a unique difficulty. Travel is required not only for away games but even home games and practices are not as close as for most hockey-dense areas. This has allowed me to become very proficient in time management, setting my priorities, work ethic, and my organizational skills. I have also demonstrated my dedication to school and hockey through improving these skills and it is shown to my teachers and coaches as these often comment and are impressed by these qualities.
In school I also maintain a difficult academic schedule. With a 4.2 GPA and enrolled in many honors and AP classes, I have not taken my academic load lightly but rather kept it very important to me. I have also been very involved within my school outside of athletics as well. From running and producing my own segment on my school's daily announcements to being involved in multiple honor societies I have had a wide range of involvement in many different activities. I felt that there is more to a hockey player than their on ice abilities and have dedicated myself to being a well-rounded person in academic and in life.
I have attended camps, games, and tournaments not only around the US but around the world. I find it very important to get advice and improvement from as many different views available. I feel that everyone can give a different opinion and want to be able to work on anything they can suggest to be the best goaltender I can possible. I have taken their advice to heart and will continue to work on my off ice skills and on ice skills over the next season. What I've learned from these experiences is I do have work to do, as any player would, but I am where I want to be in terms of my development and abilities. No matter where I end up I know I will strive to be a contributor, hard-worker, and leader on my team and in my school. My hope is to be able to leave any place better than how I found it and be someone my teachers and coaches are proud of on and off ice.
