In job interviews, in potential college app questions and even in classrooms, people are often asked, what makes you stand out from everyone else? What makes you, you? And I've always confidently known. For a period of time in the last 5 years, I had the unique experience of moving between Spain, where I'm from, and the United States. As a result of this, I have attended a total of 4 schools during that period. 3 being in the Boston area, public and private, and 1 in Madrid, international. Because of this dynamic lifestyle, I have had the honor of encountering peers and friends from all over the globe. Within each and every encounter, learning about other people's culture and their point of view enriched my understanding of the world shaping who I am today. But because I have also had the great opportunity to get an international education, it has taught me to adapt quickly and to see failure and challenges as an opportunity for growth. Looking back, if I hadn't gone through that, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
From the young age of 8 years old, I first started my winter sports career with figure skating. To be honest, I was very bad by the time jumping was introduced. However, it was when my very first hockey coach at the Weston Wayland club recommended me, I do hockey. Soon after, I feel in love with the sport. I loved how it was heavily based on teamwork, mental and physical speed, and also strength wise. My participation in several clubs, including the one in Spain, have taught me very valuable life lessons that motivate me to continue on and never give up. Throughout my time playing hockey, it has taught me to be disciplined and the importance of teamwork and relying on one another but also perseverance.
